The gorge

The river has carved deep into the rock here. The walls rise up to 300 metres and in places are only a few metres apart. The area is a national park.

Walkway and water

From the entrance, a wooden walkway runs along the rock face into the gorge. After that you continue on foot through the water. It is ice-cold even in high summer, which is exactly why the trip is so popular on hot days.

Around the gorge

Along the river there are restaurants with seating above the water, known for fresh trout. If you like, you can float down the river by tube or raft. The ancient city of Tlos is nearby.

When to go

Summer is best. In spring the river often carries a lot of meltwater and the inner part of the gorge is closed. Weekdays are quieter than weekends.

Good to know

  • Wear water shoes or old trainers; the ground is rocky.
